For new or emerging specialist FE colleges, and anyone new to the specialist FE sector

Are you planning to open, or have you recently opened, new education provision for post-16 or post-19 students with SEND? Or do you work at an established specialist college but are new to the FE sector, perhaps having come from the school or social care sectors?

If you are new to specialist post-16 further education, this 2-day event is for you. Each session will guide you through aspects of the sector and give you advice and guidance to ensure quality provision. The course will cover curriculum planning, leadership and governance, staffing, funding, reporting and data management, and preparing for your first Ofsted inspection.

Many new providers, or professionals who have not worked in specialist further education before, have been surprised and shocked at how much they have had to change or introduce as a result of setting up or working in an ESFA funded college.

Learn from experienced practitioners and senior leaders who have been through the process of setting up a new specialist FE college, and learn to avoid the pitfalls that many people fall into as they navigate the complexities of the FE sector.

“Becoming a college changed our whole perspective and culture.”

Therese Timberlake, ROC College, Part of United Response, Devon

“I never realised how much I didn’t know about specialist FE provision – I’ve learnt so much”

Sarah Jones, Willow Tree Centre

“I would recommend this training to anyone considering setting up a specialist college”

Nick Kandola, Great Oaks College

Cost

Instead of charging per attendee, we are extending our usual fee to cover the whole college/organisation. We therefore encourage multiple colleagues to attend this event where relevant. All attendees do need to register separately as all join links are personalised and unique. Multiple bookings from your organisation will not incur multiple charges.

This cost covers both sessions. Invoices will be issued after both sessions are complete.
