Job Description
The Mount is a Specialist Further Education College for young adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, aged 16 – 25, offering residential (22 students) and day provision (up to 6 students). Our vision is Living, Learning and Working. Within our therapeutic community The Mount’s Curriculum brings together 3 elements: Skills for Independence, Craft and Movement. Our Skills for Independence element gives our students opportunity to learn, embed and transfer life skills, work skills, work experience, personal development and functional skills in order to prepare for their lives after college. Our Craft element gives our students the opportunity to learn a range of practical skills through a sensory and therapeutic approach. Our Movement element supports the physical and mental development of our students, working individually and as a group on stamina and perseverance.
We are looking for an experienced individual, with a proven track record of developing and delivering high quality educational and learning experiences, ideally with a background in SEND or post 16 education.
Principal Objectives
- Be responsible for both the strategic and operational provision of The Mount’s College.
- Exercise leadership in, and take responsibility for, all aspects of the education provision, including an awareness of The Mount’s unique approach.
- As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the development of a strategic vision for the College.
- Work collaboratively and actively with the Management Group and Leadership Group
- .Be responsible for ensuring outstanding teaching that leads to high standards of achievement and progress for all students at The Mount.
- Ensure effective management of the Education Faculty.
- Maintain a high-profile presence, and be accessible to and supportive of students, staff, parents, relevant agencies and the wider community.
- Maintain effective relationships with commissioning Local Authorities, DfE, Ofsted and Natspec.
