This free short webinar is for Natspec members only. It will look at what Access to Work funding is and how it can be used to support young people on a supported internship.

Who should attend

The webinar is suitable for job coaches, people working within supported internships sites, educators and professionals actively engaged in supporting people with disabilities in supported internships or traineeships and looking to make Access to Work applications. Spaces are limited and restricted to one person per organisation so the maximum number of Natspec member organisations can benefit from this session.

Learning outcomes

  • To enable more people to understand Access to Work, how it works and who can apply.
  • It will support organisations looking to be successful in accessing Access to Work funding for supported internships.
  • An understanding of how to apply for Access to Work and how to manage the claim form process.
  • How to be successful in accessing Access to Work funding for Job Coaching for internships.

What will be covered

Participants will look at the requirements of Access to Work, how it links with and complements best job coaching practice and will be offered practical advice and information on what the funding can be used for.

The webinar will cover:

  • what is Access to Work
  • what you can use Access to Work for in relation to supported internships
  • how to ensure you are using good job coaching practices
  • updates on the changes in applying for Access to Work
  • how to apply for the funding
  • the new process in applying for the funding
  • tips to ensure you are successful in your application
  • how to ensure you are using good job coaching practices
  • how to do the support plan
  • managing the claim form process.

Delivered by

Avril Mendel is a professionally qualified commissioner, planner and manager of services with experience of supported employment, community development, project management, planning and development and grant bidding, including monitoring within the statutory and voluntary sector. Avril is involved in national training around Access to Work funding and has over 30 years’ experience of applying for Access to Work.
