About the students

FAR Academy specialises in looking after young people who struggle with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). Especially anxiety and depression, young people who have and Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) or need support obtaining one. Students who have become disengaged with traditional education thrive at our specialist provision.

The FAR Academy is accepting learners, from across Kent and London.

Curriculum

At the FAR Academy CIC, we offer more than just qualifications. We offer the support and help to ensure our students are ready to learn. We often offer counselling and extra curriculum support; in other words, we provide one to one additional support for anyone who is in need. Our curriculum consists of many qualified courses ranging from:

• Functional Skills Maths/English NCFE Entry Level 1 / 2
• Creative craft (Construction) NCFE Level 1
• Business Enterprise NCFE Technical Award Level 1 / 2
• PSHE
• Art and design
• Graphic design
• PE
• We can also provide specialised courses such as: Retail, health care, Teaching assisting, these courses are provided by us and supported by our professional teachers.

As an extension to our current curriculum, we also provide work experience either in corporation with us (working in our retail shop or teaching assisting) or we can outsource our students to places more suitable for the chosen career

Specialist facilities

The FAR Academy CIC is equipped with a variety of facilities. As an enthusiast of skateboarding and all the social and emotional benefits we believe it provides, we have built our very own skatepark within our site, with a selection ramps and rails for skater’s dream.

We have also built a Sensory/ Therapy room, where provide our counselling and time for a student to take a break. On the ground floor we have a workshop and upstairs we have a photography room next to an art and design room.

We also building a fully functional kitchen where students can learn catering.
