General Description

Employ My Ability serves young people with a Special Educational Need (SEN) from 16 to 25.

Catchment Area

We are a Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole, Wiltshire and Somerset provider, accepting learners from these areas. 

Curriculum

Employ My Ability (EMA) opened to students in September 2015. EMA offers young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) education and training based at The Walled Garden, Moreton.

Students benefit from individual timetables for their vocational and personal development of skills which support them achieving the outcomes within their Educational Health and Care Plan.  Students participate in onsite commercial work places, students have work experience at the Walled Garden, in the formal and working gardens, The Dovecote Café and commercial kitchen, animal enclosure, and plant shop and sales area. This supports students in both their vocational studies and functional skills – allowing them the time to develop their skills and confidence in real working environments.

 

 

Specialist Facilities

Students benefit from individual timetables for their vocational and personal development of skills which support them achieving the outcomes within their Educational Health and Care Plan.  Students participate in onsite commercial work places, students have work experience at the Walled Garden, in the formal and working gardens, The Dovecote Café and commercial kitchen, animal enclosure, and plant shop and sales area. This supports students in both their vocational studies and functional skills – allowing them the time to develop their skills and confidence in real working environments.

Students also have access to onsite SALT sessions and a range of onsite therapy sessions.

Other Information

Employ My Ability has strong links with the local area, including the local village hall where students volunteer to run a monthly lunch club for the elderly. 

Our Work Placement Officer has created and developed strong links to the comunity and local busineses, this should expand as we take on more work experience placements.
