General Description
St Vincent’s school caters for pupils aged 4-19 years with a sensory impairment and other needs. We provide day or joint placements and full or part-time residential options, with extended evenings on a weekly, school term-time basis. Pupils enjoy full access to the National Curriculum plus an extended curriculum.
Pupils are taught in small class groups by teachers who are qualified to teach students with visual impairments. Our therapies and support services include physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, educational psychology and music therapy.
Students get individually tailored, mobility and orientation sessions with help from our mobility officers. They are supported to develop their communication, social skills and personal independence to help them achieve their potential.
We believe students should challenge and enjoy themselves at college and put personalisation at the heart of what we do. Students are encouraged to enrich their college experience by taking advantage of an inventive 24 hour curriculum.
The college also has a community dentist, doctor and health care coordinator on site and our family liaison officer promotes strong links between the school and a student’s home.
Application for admission is generally made by the Local Authority. Parents are welcome to contact the school at any point in their child’s educational journey.
