Curriculum

Education

Extensive assessment takes place to help us assess which of our four pathways is most appropriate.

Pathway 1 - This is predominately for students that have high needs including communication difficulties.  This pathway provides a rich curriculum which uses sensory exploration to engage students with world around them. It will maximise communication, creativity, specific interests and life skills.  The students take part in activities such as community visits, vocational skills, use of money, and safe travel to shape their aspirations for adulthood.

Pathway 2 - Aimed at students working above Entry Level 1, the focus is on independence and life skills but with enhanced support.  Students undertake functional skills, ICT and sessions focused on building self-confidence in preparation for adulthood.  Students have the opportunity to access the community in a variety of activities including travel training.

Pathway 3 - Students in this pathway are usually working at Entry Level 2.  It has similarities with pathway 2 but introduces options such as volunteering in an external work experience, for the students to build confidence in the work place and gain transferable skills.

Pathway 4 - Aimed at preparing students for the world of work students take part in an external work placement supported by a job coach and gives opportunity to build academic achievement.  Students will also build on their independent living skills.  It is expected that students will access further education, supported internships or work from this pathway.
