Descriptors of therapy outcome measurement tools

Each tool has been identified by the project team as effective at evidencing outcomes for students in specialist FE settings. They represent a small sample of tools and are by no means an exhaustive list. Each descriptor provides information on how the tool might be used with students with SEND. Links are provided to enable you to explore the tools in more detail.

Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM)

A self-report outcome measure for use across disciplines with students who have the cognitive ability to engage in a supported self-assessment process.

Care Aims

A person-centred framework for use across disciplines and as part of whole service development.

Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) – Light

A goal-scaling approach for use across disciplines with any students where individual goals are set as part of the therapy process.

The East Kent Outcomes System (EKOS)

A tool for evaluating efficacy of a therapy intervention, suitable for use across disciplines and client groups.

TOMS

A tool that can be used to monitor changes over time in impairment, activity, participation and wellbeing, suitable for use across disciplines and client groups.
