The voice of specialist further education

Finance managers network

This network is aimed at staff in member colleges who are responsible for specialist college finance and business matters including ESFA and LA contracts, internal budgeting and forecasting, VAT, fee levels and other topics as and when required.  These meetings provide an opportunity for staff across our membership to discuss hot topics, swap ideas and share good practice. Any confidential information discussed will not be shared outside the meeting.

Networks are usually held online, approximately three times per year. If you would like to join the network, just turn up to one of the meetings. Outside of the network meetings, colleagues can ask questions and access support via our finance manager discussion forum.

This network is hosted by Clare Howard, Natspec CEO. If you have suggestions for any topics you’d like to see covered in future networks, please email clare.howard@natspec.org.uk

Please check our Natspec networks page for details about all of our other networks.

Capital funding

Unlike GFE colleges, specialist colleges do not have access to the FE Transformation Fund. Specialist colleges are also not in scope for major capital funds available to schools.

Natspec is campaigning for more equitable access to capital funding.

Capital Funding Resources

Our paper on capital grant funding outlines the issues.

Specialist colleges are in scope for School Conditions Allocations (SCA) and Devolved Formula Capital (DFC). This funding provides a small amount of maintenance funding based on student numbers.
