Improve the quality of your reports and evaluations by developing your evaluative writing skills. Effective evaluative writing is both judgement rich and evidence based. It provides clarity about the current standard of a particular aspect of provision. Evaluative writing signposts to evidence to support judgements and the impact provision is having on learners. This session will provide delegates with practical tips and exercises to improve their evaluative writing skills.
The purpose of the training is to support senior staff to:
- write evaluatively rather than descriptively
- produce judgement rich observation / deep dive evidence
- undertake effective case study and review writing
- streamline workload and avoid duplication and/or chasing further evidence.
By the end of the session you will have a better understanding of how to:
- produce clear, concise and evidence rich self-assessment reports
- record the impact of intended / achieved improvement actions in quality improvement plans
- enable external monitoring to ‘understand’ our provision and its strengths and areas for improvement.
Who is it for?
The course is intended for senior members of staff in specialist and mainstream provision with responsibility for quality assuring SEND provision, such as:
- pathway leads
- curriculum managers
- quality managers.
