About the students
KITE College is an independent, co-educational specialist Post 16 provision for young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. In order to secure a placement at KITE, young people must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with an identified need of SEMH. Alongside SEMH needs, our learners may also be diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, School Based Anxiety, Prolonged Social Withdrawal, Speech, Language and Communication needs Sensory Processing Needs and Social Communication Needs.
Catchment
We can offer provision to approximately 100 young people from Kent and surrounding areas.
Curriculum
The Curriculum, Personal Development agenda and enrichment opportunities are designed to support the growth of our young people, to become well rounded individuals, who engage as positive citizens within the world of work and their communities. We believe that all learners should be equally valued, regardless of their needs or approach to learning. We strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all learners can flourish, be themselves and feel safe.
We deliver innovative teaching and learning through an inclusive curriculum allowing our learners to participate in a rich variety of experiences. Our curriculum is sequenced to enable our learners to build on their prior knowledge and further develop their understanding in order for them to achieve the highest outcomes regardless of their starting point.
Specialist facilities
KITE endeavours in supporting learners to ensure they maximise on their learning potential and personal development, enabling them to realise their aspirations in relation to employment and preparing them for adulthood. KITE College currently offer various Vocational Pathways including Hair and Beauty, Construction, Motor Vehicle, Information Technology, Preparation for Learning and Preparation for Employment. In addition to studying for specific vocational qualifications, our Learners engage in Maths and English (Functional Skills and GCSE), Independent Living skills and Employability.
