About the students

A pathway into employment for adults aged 19-25 with an EHCP who are still working on their English and Maths and hope to move on from us into paid employment or a permanent voluntary post.

Curriculum

Learners join us for up to 3 days per week to study English, Maths and Employment skills. The collaborate to run their own profitable businesses including an Etsy and EBay shop selling craft items they have produced. All learners work towards the Preparation For Adulthood standards and participate in a variety of enrichment and well-being activities. When not at Beacon Plus they will be attending their 2 day a week work placement put all they are learning into a real life application. Where the need for additional support is identified learners can be eligible for additional interventions in Maths and English. All learners have a mentor to check in with regularly and work towards their own personal targets such as catching a train to meet friends.

Specialist facilities

We specialise in first hand life experiences, our curriculum is delivered through our business models which include online sales and event catering, we have our own Community Cafe staff and run by our learners.

Other information

We have a number of local large businesses who sit on a panel of wider stakeholders offering advice from a business perspective and strengthening our links within the local community. A selection of local businesses support our learners through the sale of our goods in their outlets and inviting us to host their community cafes. We are have a catering, land based and maintenance team all available to take on business contracts within the local community as part of their routes into employment.
