Natspec’s Maths Week 2018 will run from 5 to 9 March with the theme, Work It Out! The focus is on developing maths skills in and for the workplace. The purpose of the week is to put the spotlight on maths, an area of the curriculum that can be challenging for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Maths Week gives us the chance to work together, share ideas about effective practice, promote the importance of maths skills – and have fun at the same time.
We launched Maths Week 2018 – including the competition – in the webinar below. If you want some ideas about making the most of Maths Week including developing students’ maths skills in readiness for work and how to enter the Work it Out! competition, please view the webinar :
The competition is open to any student or group of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities aged 16 or over. You don’t have to be a Natspec member to enter students – and the rules are pretty simple. Students simply need to showcase in a short video or set of annotated photographs the maths skills they are developing that will be useful to them at work. To enter your students, just complete the form below.
Closing date: 5pm on Friday 23 March, 2018.
The competition will be judged by our partner, National Numeracy. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the Natspec Annual Conference on Tuesday 24 April.
Please share what you’re up to on Twitter using the hashtag #NatspecWorkitOut – in the run-up to and during the week. And feel free to use our Work it Out logo!
