Inspection and Monitoring

Ofsted’s  routine inspections remain suspended but as part of a phased return they are carrying out visits to education and care providers. Ofsted has published operational guidance on these interim visits and new provider monitoring visits. They will not use the inspection framework or result in a grade and the purpose of them is to help understanding of the needs of students and how Covid-19 has affected provision.

A provisional date of January 2021 has been given for return to inspections, but this is being kept under review.

Ofsted continues to keep updated its rolling update page giving information to all providers.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have recommenced inspections and a guidance for providers webpage includes specific COVID-19 related updates for providers and professionals in adult social care.

Wales

Estyn plan to only visit or inspect providers when it is safe and practicable to do so. They have said they will assess the situation regularly.

Estyn continues to keep updated and a web page on FAQS: COVID-19 and inspection.

Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) have released a report From Response to Recovery outlining their approach to supporting and monitoring providers. During the ongoing firebreak they are continuing to carry out priority registration visits and inspecting services where they have concerns.
