In 2019, Ofsted introduced the Education Inspection Framework. The new framework will be used for inspection of further education providers from September 2019 onwards. All the documents used for inspection, including the FE handbook, can be downloaded from the resources box below.

“Moving Forward” 2016
The Ofsted thematic report “Moving Forward? How well the further education and skills sector is preparing young people with high needs for adult life” (March 2016) had various recommendations for colleges, local authorities and government.

Outcomes
Latest inspection data can be found on the Ofsted and gov.uk websites. Natspec analyse the data each year. At the end of 2017 the data showed that 93% of Natspec learners study in good or outstanding colleges. Our summary of latest inspection outcomes for residential colleges for the Lenehan Review also showed that over 90% were good or outstanding.

Estyn
Estyn is the Inspection body for Education and Training in Wales. A new inspection framework was rolled out in September 2017.
