Event details

Wednesday 26 November 2025

Time:

10:00am–12:00pm

Location:

Zoom
This event is for specialist and FE colleges, regardless of whether they are a Natspec member, affiliate or not.

This training session aims to support the understanding of the fundamentals of behaviour as communication for learners with SEND. It includes being aware of the challenges learners experience in communication and strategies to support successful communication before going onto review the functions of behaviour and how to focus on preventative strategies to minimise behaviour that may be of concern.

By the end of the training, you should understand the concept of behaviour as communication, have a general overview of Positive Behaviour Support and know how you can be a good communication partner.

Who is it for?

This training is an introductory training suitable for people working with a broad range of learners with SEND, including neurodivergent learners or others who are in vocational or foundation learning pathways. Staff roles could include managers, teaching and learning support staff, Job Coaches, members of a wider multi-disciplinary team such as Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists.

The training introduces Positive Behaviour Support, linked to understanding behaviour as communication but is not a certified Positive Behaviour Support Training.
