The Adolescent Brain – An introduction to the neuroscience of adolescence and how it can help to shape your college practice
9 October 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Beyond the challenges our learners experience with aspects of their diagnoses, they are also undergoing significant changes within their adolescent brains. Such changes can lead to the young adult feeling more excitable and exhausted, and can significantly affect already complex behaviours, sleep patterns and relationships. Developments in neuroscience help us to recognise some of the ways in which we can support our young adults with aspects of self-regulation at this time of change, and better understand how college life can be structured to help prepare learners for their transition from childhood to adulthood.
