Natspec’s Annual Conference returns to Aston Business School in April 2018 with this year’s theme focussing on leadership

The conference explores how specialists in the FE sector can play an effective leadership role both within their own settings and in the wider community, through building effective relationships between organisations.

The 2018 programme includes contributions from experts in leadership development as well as high profile keynote speakers from DfE and Ofsted, the Shadow Minister for Children and Families, Emma Lewell-Buck MP, and we have also issued an invitation to the new Minister for Disabled People, Sarah Newton MP.

We are also delighted to announce that Dame Christine Lenehan will present her findings from the review of specialist schools and colleges. This called for strategic oversight of provision for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and a collaborative approach between LAs and education providers. Specialist providers have an important role to play in helping to plan provision locally, regionally and nationally, and Benedict Coffin from DfE will provide an update on the review’s implementation, and how this relates to the SEND reforms in general, on Day 2.
