It is often assumed by staff and parents that simply providing a 1:1 LSA will raise the performance and life chances of learners with learning difficulties and disabilities (LDD). But the evidence is clear that indiscriminate, blanket use of LSAs can in fact make the situation worse for the learner, or inadvertently adversely affect learning. Yet we have comprehensive evidence that we can move on from this situation by embedding the best practice in our classrooms and workplaces.
