What use are MPs?’ is not a rhetorical question but one all Natspec members should consider. MPs can help take up issues on your behalf and that of your students with national government and local agencies. They can cut through bureaucracy and get action. They can make representations to Ministers and Shadow Ministers more effectively than you can directly, and can also help obtain media coverage.

This training workshop, exclusively for Natspec members, will provide clear guidance on why and how you should engage with your MP. It will be hosted by Natspec’s political and government relations consultants at The Public Affairs Company.

The session will cover:

  • How to establish and build your relationship with your local MP
  • The roles MPs play, and how best you can use them
  • Who to approach and how
  • The balance between using politicians and ensuring good relationships with LA officers
  • Arranging a meeting or visit

This session is free to Natspec members and forms part of our wider work to increase the profile of Natspec members and the work that you do through lobbying and advocacy at local and national level.
