Being able to hold difficult conversations well is a key skill for all managers.   For managers of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision, the number and range of difficult conversations to be had can seem overwhelming.  SEND managers find themselves moving from funding conversations with local authorities, to mediating between parents and young people, to negotiating work placements with employers, to holding performance management reviews.  All of these conversations require specific mindset skills, and behaviour.
