This event is run as part of the ETF’s Centres for Excellence in SEND programme.

This session, facilitated by Natspec, will provide an opportunity to understand the challenges faced by autistic learners when moving onto post 16 education and approaches that will support autistic learners to achieve their aspirations and outcomes.

Who is this for?

The session is for all practitioners working with autistic learners in a post 16 setting. It will be of particular value to those working in non-specialised settings where autistic learners and working alongside non-autistic peers.

Training aim

This training will explore the challenges faced by autistic learners moving into post 16 education and how practitioners can support learners through adapting their teaching practice and understanding the needs of their learners.

Outcomes

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand the challenges faced by autistic learners when moving into post 16 education.
  • Consider approaches that will make lessons inclusive for autistic learners.
