Supported Internships

Supported Internships enable young people to achieve sustainable employment, through learning in the workplace

Supported internships

Supported Internships are structured study programmes, with the majority of the programme being based with an employer.

They enable young people aged 16 to 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan to achieve sustainable employment, through learning in the workplace. Supported internships are unpaid, last a minimum of six months, and as well as time in the workplace, the young person follows a personalised programme including, if appropriate, English, maths, and relevant qualifications.

If your college is looking at introducing or expanding the number of supported internships, Natspec runs a training workshop as part of our Transform service. Check to see if there’s one happening near you soon or get in touch with us to express your interest.
