Priory is an independent specialist college, providing education and support for young people aged 16 to 25 years on the autistic spectrum.
General Description
Priory Colleges of Wales, based in Wrexham and Pontypool, is a partnership of independent specialist colleges for young adults aged 16 to 25 with Asperger's syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders and associated conditions We provide a safe and supportive specialist learning environment where our young adults can explore their own experiences, helping them to develop strategies for managing their condition as part of their lives.
Curriculum
We wish to enable young people to develop the confidence and skills they need for the next stage of their journey. We provide a range of opportunities including speech and language therapy, both one to one and group therapy, art therapy (including 1:1), as well as accredited independence training; covering transport, access to benefits and services, financial assistance, confidence building, behaviour management support, Disability Discrimination Act issues and personal growth.
Specialist Facilities
At the Priory Colleges in Wales both Wrexham and Pontypool, we offer a comprehensive initial assessment which is focused upon individual needs. We can supply speech, language and communication therapists and talking therapies;bespoke mental health support, individual counselling sessions can be booked and students can also access the mainstream college support through student services.
