We are a regional provider and accept learners from across the North-West.

Curriculum

At the heart of My Life Learning lies our belief that every individual should be supported to achieve their full potential. As a result, a key focus that runs throughout our courses is that of preparing learners for adulthood.

We understand the emotional impact that new environments can have on new students and put in place a transitional period to help smooth the pathway to their learning.

With a wide range of curriculum subjects, many of our courses lead to a mix of accredited learning and non accredited outcomes which are personal to each learner.  All our teachers have relevant qualifications and an extensive range of experience.

Our available curriculum subjects include:

  • Animal care (practical and theory)
  • Animal care (horses)
  • Horticulture (on and off site, in the community)
  • ICT and media
  • Health and fitness
  • Catering
  • Art
  • Numeracy and literacy
  • Music technology
  • Gym and swimming
  • Cycle and woodwork workshops
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Textiles
  • Mindfulness

We recognise the importance of numeracy and literacy, which can be taught as stand-alone subjects or are embedded throughout cross-curricular activities.

As part of the learning process we also offer a wide range of work experience and supported internships, both of which take place off site.

Specialist Facilities

Set in 84 acres of green land with our own woodland, My Life Learning provides an alternative and inspiring environment in which to learn. On-site facilities include classrooms, an IT suite and indoor and outdoor activity areas.

We are fortunate to have our own farm on-site, on which learners can become involved in animal care and horticulture. Products grown and made by students are often sold to members of the public at our many events, giving learners the opportunity to become involved in commerce and enterprise, as well as the wider community.

Our own on-site café and residential chalets provide real-life learning in hospitality and catering, both front and back of house, providing opportunities for learners to interact with members of the public in a real-world setting.

As part of the charity My Life Legacy, My Life Learning is registered with the Care Quality Commission. Our site is entirely accessible and specialist healthcare support staff and facilities, including a fully accessible hygiene suite, are available to learners who may require this.
