An interactive workshop for heads of SEND departments or curriculum managers. It’s aimed at those in post-16 providers who plan to introduce supported internships as well as those who wish to improve or expand their existing provision.
A supported internship is a type of study programme specifically aimed at young people aged 16 to 24 with an EHC plan. It’s for those who want to move into employment and need extra support to do so. They can be very effective in helping young people with SEND achieve paid employment.
This workshop will:
- introduce you to a range of supported internship models
- cover the planning considerations associated with implementing supported internships including staffing, employer engagement, partnership-working and recruitment of learners
- provide you with examples of effective practice
- help you review and improve existing provision
- give you the opportunity to work together to tackle specific challenges.
As well as benefiting from the expertise of the specialist trainer, you will have the chance to share practice with other delegates, learn from one another and problem-solve together. You will also begin to work on your own implementation or quality improvement plan
The workshop is available as an external training session or can be delivered in-house for an individual provider. It runs as a full day or half day workshop.
